RESUMO

15(2.4%) of 601 patients (392 have undergone transvesical adenomectomy, 111 had gunshot wound of the external genitalia and small pelvis organs, 98 had closed pelvic traumas, injuries of the urinary bladder and posterior urethra) were treated for persistent urinary fistulas with human allogenic fibroblasts growth cultures grown in the artificial medium. Before transplantation into the fistula tracts, the fibroblasts were grown in bioreactor on the microcarriers. Application of allogenic fibroblast growth culture has reduced hospital stay to 7.5 days. This method is simple and effective in inpatients. Use of allogenic fibroblasts allows to create bank of cell transplants for application in clinical practice.

RESUMO

A case of Whipple's disease is described in a male patient of 43 who has been previously examined in different hospitals for six years. The diagnosis was established after surgery and histological examination of the duodenum biopsy. Infiltration of the tunica propria of the duodenum with PAS-positive macrophages was observed. Therapy with rondomycin in combination with GUMET-P produced a response but the recurrence took place after therapy. A new operation was followed by peritonitis and pneumonia which terminated in the patient's death.

RESUMO

The results of the catamnestic study of case reports and records of postmortem examination of 102 patients with bronchial asthma (BA) aged 47 to 88 years who died at a general hospital during 1976-1988 indicate that in the overwhelming majority of cases, there took place death "with asthma" rather than death "from asthma". At the same time the dominant pathology was coronary heart disease (acute coronary failure, myocardial infarction, progressive heart failure associated with atherosclerotic and postinfarction cardiosclerosis). Emphasis is laid on the fact that according to the autopsy data, the rate of the recognized stenosing atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries considerably exceeded the number of cases of coronary heart disease documented clinically (typical angina pectoris of effort, significant macrofocal myocardial infarction). The characteristic features of the group under observation included an unexpectedly frequent combination of BA and malignant neoplasms (24 cases), including lung cancer in 13 of these cases.

RESUMO

The diagnosis and treatment of benign non-epithelial tumors of the large intestine are discussed. The cases are rare and present certain diagnostic difficulties. It is possible to establish the diagnosis of the tumors by x-ray examination with double contrasting of the large intestine and by transrectal needle biopsy of the neoplasms. The diagnosis may be improved by applying fiberoptic colonoscopy. Resection of the colon and hemicolectomy seem to be the operation of choice.

RESUMO

Three observations on granular-cell Abrikosov's tumours with locally destructive growth and polymorphism of cells (in 2 male and 1 female patients) located in soft tissues of a hand finger, under the skin of teh upper lip, and in soft tissues of the lumbar region are described. A critical survey of the literature is given.
